Echo is a small, meditative space located in Sillschlucht, Innsbruck, designed to interact with its surroundings and create a tranquil environment in the wilderness. The building’s surface is perforated with holes that serve as entry points for light and sound. Light is projected onto a shaped, translucent membrane that forms the interior, creating a glowing atmosphere that evolves throughout the day.

The site is positioned beneath a stream that cascades down a stone cliff. Pipes are placed near the dripping points, along with others leading to various ambient sound sources, which together create a distorted, atmospheric sound inside the building. The sound channels can be adjusted from within, allowing visitors to control the noise level and the type of sound, enhancing the meditative experience.
